Spirits ran high at Valerie Jones Giltner's campaign headquarters as election results poured in. Valerie, Georgetown native and retired nurse, was a candidate for State Representative seat for the 37th District in a special election held on December 21. The seat was vacated by Ruth Briggs King, who recently moved from the district. Sussex County GOP Chair Drew Sunderlin, nominated Valerie. Ruth Briggs King gave Valerie her full endorsement.

The work of a strong grassroots effort throughout the state resulted in Valerie being victorious over her Democrat opponent, Jane Hovington, 1,805 votes to 1,068 votes.

Valerie heads to Dover in January and will represent constituents in Georgetown, Millsboro and Lewes. She is committed to strengthening working families, protecting freedoms and limiting burdensome regulations, safe and secure classrooms, improving healthcare for our communities, and ensuring government accountability and efficiency. Valerie also plans to continue Ruth Briggs King's legacy.
