What is the Sussex County Republican Committee (SCRC)? The SCRC’s mission is to grow and enrich the Republican Party for the benefit of all. The SCRC is governed by an elected Executive Board of Directors (Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary). This group is charged with overseeing the mission of the SCRC through organization, education, and mobilization. The Board of Directors is regulated by the Executive Committee, which is comprised of the 10 elected RDC’s, plus some non-voting members (Parliamentarian and Committee Chairs). All the elected members of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and EDCs combined make up the Advisory Board. If you are a registered Republican with the DE Board of Elections, residing in Sussex County, DE, you are automatically a member of the Sussex County Republican Committee (Sussex GOP). The Sussex GOP Advisory Board meets the second Monday of each month at 6:30 pm at the Millsboro Fire-hall, 109 E. State St., Millsboro, DE 19966. There is no charge to attend and you will have the opportunity to meet and share your thoughts and concerns with our guest speakers, elected officials, officers of the party, and other like-minded citizens.
How is the Republican party organized in DE? The Delaware GOP is governed by the Chair of the state committee, who is responsible for facilitating the policies set forth in the by-laws of the state Republican party. These by-laws are established through the state Executive Committee, under the state Chair’s direction. The state is broken down into 3 counties (New Castle, Kent, and Sussex). Due to the number of citizens residing in New Castle County, that county is further sub-divided into three regions (Western, Northern and Colonial). Each of these counties (regions) has a Chair who, in turn, facilitates the operation of the Republican party within the county (region) and reports back to the state through the state Executive Committee. The State Board of Elections has divided the state into 41 Representative Districts and 21 Senatorial Districts. Sussex County has 10 Representative Districts and 5 Senatorial Districts. Each representative district within the county has a Representative District Chair (RDC) who is charged with knowing the demographics of their district, recruiting Election District Committee persons, arranging voter registration events, knowing the election schedule, and lending guidance and support to current elected officials within the district or those endorsed candidates seeking office. Within each Representative District there are a certain number of Election Districts (polling locations). Each Election District is represented by two Election District Committee persons (EDC’s). It is the EDC’s responsibility to know the party organization and demographics of his/her Election Districts. The EDCs speak to the issues of concern to their constituents through canvassing or other forms of communication.
Delaware Dept of Elections (DOE)
organizes statewide elections based on the DE House of Representative Districts.
Sussex County has 10 Representative Districts, RDs. Each Representative District has 9 to 14 Election Districts, EDs (Polling Districts).
SUSSEX COUNTY REPUBLICAN COMMITTEE EXECUTIVE BOARD
MESSAGE TO THE SUSSEX COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY
from Tom Molnar, Chairman
My name is Tom Molnar, and I have served as the Sussex County Vice Chair for nearly two and a half years. It is an honor to step into the role of Sussex County Chair. I have been actively involved in the Sussex County Republican Party for more than 12 years, serving as an Election District Committee Member and as Vice President of the 38th District Republican Club & PAC. Throughout that time, I have had the opportunity to work alongside many dedicated Republicans across our county as we have supported candidates, grown our grassroots organization, and strengthened our local party.
Due to redistricting, I now reside in the 41st District, but my commitment to the success of the Republican Party across Sussex County remains the same. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with many of you across our ten districts, and I look forward to continuing to build on that foundation as we head into the upcoming election cycle.
As move through this crucial election year, our focus must be on teamwork, engagement, and action. This is a watershed year for Sussex County, and the success of our party will depend on all of us working together toward a shared goal: electing Republicans not only here in our county, but across the State of Delaware. In the months ahead, we will be organizing fundraising events, strengthening our grassroots operations, and maintaining a strong presence at public gatherings throughout the county with the First State Freedom Store.
