Yesterday’s landmark 6-3 Supreme Court decision in Louisiana v. Callais delivered a powerful affirmation of equal protection under the law and rejected race-based map drawing that divides Americans by skin color. Delaware Republicans stand firmly with the Court’s defense of constitutional principles: fair maps, secure elections, and real voting rights for every citizen—regardless of race.
The original Louisiana map already provided fair representation with one majority-Black district aligned with the state’s population demographics. No voter lost a single right.
Yet Democrats, including Delaware’s own Senators Blunt Rochester and Coons, Governor Meyer, and Rep. Sarah McBride, rushed to fearmonger, falsely claiming the ruling “silences voters” and “guts the Voting Rights Act.” They are wrong.
Key Facts from the Supreme Court Ruling:
Race cannot be the predominant factor in drawing congressional maps. Louisiana’s attempt to force a second majority-Black district based solely on skin color violated the 14th Amendment.
The Voting Rights Act remains fully intact and protects every eligible American—Black, White, Hispanic, or any background—with equal access to the ballot.
This decision upholds colorblind justice and stops racial gerrymandering while allowing legitimate partisan considerations in redistricting.
The Constitution won. Equal protection for all triumphed over divisive identity politics.
Delaware Republicans reject the Democrats’ divisive playbook. We support maps that unite communities, respect traditional districting principles, and ensure every vote counts equally. In a state as small as Delaware, we have a unique opportunity to lead by example—building fair systems that empower all citizens rather than pitting groups against each other.
Why This Matters for Delaware in 2026
One-party Democrat rule has delivered higher taxes, failing schools, and out-of-touch policies that ignore working families.
Fair redistricting and secure elections are essential to breaking the monopoly and giving Delawareans real choices.
The 2026 midterms offer a historic chance to flip seats, expand our conservative coalition, and prove that Delaware rejects coastal elitism in favor of commonsense conservatism.
Call to Action: Delaware conservatives—now is the time to get involved. Attend local meetings, volunteer for candidates, and spread the truth about what fair representation really means. Together, we can build a powerful movement that defies projections and delivers victories for limited government, strong families, and equal opportunity in 2026.
