JOINT ENDORSEMENT STATEMENT
From Sussex County Republican Legislators of the House Minority Caucus
In Support of Dr. Nikki Miller for State Representative, District 20
August 4, 2025
As Republican legislators representing Sussex County in the Delaware House, we proudly endorse Dr. Nikki Miller for State Representative in the 20th District. Dr. Miller’s extensive experience as an educator, administrator, and community advocate makes her the most qualified candidate to serve in Dover. Her background ensures she is ready on day one. This special election matters because the winner will immediately begin voting on major issues. Delaware lawmakers will reconvene on August 12, 2025, for a special session addressing concerns over the recent property reassessment and its impact on taxpayers. With families already strained by inflation and facing higher property taxes, this is a critical moment. We must send a representative Who truly understands education funding, working-family tax burdens, and knows how to fight for fairness. TOMORROW, August 5, show up, cast your vote, and help us secure this critical win. On August 5, polls at assigned polling places across District 20 will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Visit elections.delaware.gov to find your polling site. This election is urgent. We cannot afford to send someone unprepared. We need someone who understands how schools are funded, how reassessments affect working families, and how to fight for fairness. The House Republican Caucus stands ready to work with Dr. Nikki Miller the moment she takes office--but we need your vote to make that possible. When you vote on Election Day, your participation is vital to ensure Sussex County has a strong, prepared voice in Dover. Let’s come together, get out the vote, and elect Dr. Nikki Miller as our next State Representative for District 20. Message from Sussex GOP Chair, Daniel Willis
She Didn’t Give Birth To Me. But She’s My Mom.
August 2, 2025
Dear Sussex County Republicans, Three days before my first birthday, I was adopted. My mother didn’t carry me for nine months. She didn’t bring me into this world. She didn’t share my DNA. But she chose me. She showed up for every scraped knee, every late-night worry, every tough conversation. She gave me what every child deserves: stability, devotion, and unconditional love. She is my mom. No qualifiers. No exceptions. And she’s not alone. Across Sussex County and this country, thousands of women mother with their hearts, not just their biology. Foster moms, stepmoms, grandmothers, aunts, and adoptive mothers carry out the sacred role of “mom” every single day. They deserve recognition, not erasure. That is why I cannot stay silent, and why we cannot stay silent, when Alonna Berry, the Democratic candidate for Delaware’s 20th House District, proudly refers to herself on her campaign website as a “birthing person.” That term doesn’t include more people. It erases them. It reduces motherhood to a clinical act. Cold and dismissive. It overlooks the women who earn the title of “mom” through love, sacrifice, and everyday courage. Motherhood is not a political experiment. It is not a label to be sanitized. It is sacred. It is human. It is worth defending. This kind of ideology isn’t coming from moms. It is being pushed by radical activists. And it’s already showing up in campaign platforms and public policy. If we stay quiet, we risk erasing the very women who raised us. So today, the Sussex County Republican Party is launching a countywide effort to speak out and celebrate the true meaning of motherhood: 📸 Stand with us • Post a photo of your mom—biological or not—on Facebook or Instagram • Use the hashtag #CallHerMom • Tag @SussexCountyRepublicans and help us celebrate every kind of motherhood Let’s send a message that is personal, proud, and unapologetic. We see the moms who step in. We see the grandmas who raise their grandkids. We see the foster moms who hold hearts they didn’t grow. We see the stepmoms who love without obligation. We honor them. We call them what they are. Call her Mom. With conviction, Daniel Willis Chairman, Sussex County Republican Party

“Birthing Person” Running for Office?
July 28, 2025
“As a birthing person, currently living through the fourth trimester, I know firsthand the challenges, dangers, and uncertainty surrounding reproductive healthcare.” “Birthing person”!? This is how one of the two candidates running for office this week in Delaware describes herself.
From Rep. Bryan Shupe, District 36
Why the August 5th Special Election Matters — Support Dr. Nikki Miller for District 20!

As many of you know, there will be a special election on August 5th for House District 20, just south of our own district. I strongly encourage you to support Dr. Nikki Miller, a native of southern Delaware and a lifelong public servant in education. Dr. Nikki has served as a social studies teacher, assistant principal, and principal in the Cape Henlopen School District, and now works as a Supervisor of Instruction in Seaford. Her deep roots in our community and unmatched qualifications make her the most experienced and prepared candidate in this race. But this election is about more than just qualifications — it’s about protecting checks and balances in our state government. If her opponent wins, it will bring the majority party one step closer to a supermajority in the Delaware House of Representatives — and that’s dangerous. A supermajority would allow them to amend our state Constitution without any input or opposition from the minority party — and without meaningful public debate. We cannot afford to get closer to one-party control with no accountability. Please visit 👉 NikkiMillerforDE.com to learn more, volunteer, or contribute to her campaign. Let’s protect our voice and keep Delaware’s democracy balanced.
