Chairman of the Delaware Republican Party

Fellow Delaware Republicans,
Recently, Spotlight Delaware published a story by Karl Baker that portrayed the Delaware Republican Party in a misleading and unfair light. While criticism comes with the territory of political leadership, it is essential that you — our members, supporters, and grassroots team — have the facts, not the spin.
First and foremost, like many small organizations and small businesses across our state, the Delaware GOP has faced challenges during an off-election year. This is not unusual. Even the National Democratic Party, currently the minority national party, has publicly acknowledged its own financial struggles during this same off-cycle period. Off-years always require tighter resource management and strategic planning for both parties.
The article referred to a $54,000 payment to the Homewood Suites hotel. The insinuation was that this was a party expense unrelated to our core work. That is false. This payment was a joint expense for lodging for our delegates attending the Republican National Convention (Each delegate wrote a check to cover the hotel expense) a standard cost shared among state parties nationwide. It was appropriate, authorized, and aligned with RNC requirements for housing delegations.
Spotlight Delaware also attempted to cast doubt on the role of our Executive Director, Nick Miles. Let me
be clear:
Nick is compensated as a 1099 independent contractor through his LLC, Red Vigilant, which is legal and
commonplace in political operations. Campaigns, state parties, national committees, and political
consulting firms all routinely use 1099 arrangements for professional staff. There is nothing unusual or
improper about this structure.
The reimbursement to Julianne Murray for $5000 was for the deposit of our 2025 Convention at the Chase Center on the Riverfront.
We have a clear plan — one that our Executive Committee here in Delaware fully supports and is prepared to implement. This plan has earned the full confidence of the Republican National Committee. The RNC has already:
• Approved our 2026 Strategic Plan (attached)• Issued an initial $5,000 implementation payment, and• Committed an additional $45,000 grant upon completion of the plan — a strong endorsement of our strategy, discipline, and operational integrity.
While Spotlight Delaware seeks headlines, we remain focused on results. We are building a modern, data-driven, community-rooted Republican Party that will compete at every level in 2026. We are strengthening our financial structure, expanding local engagement, recruiting candidates, and implementing new technology and voter outreach programs that will make us more effective than ever before. Do not be discouraged by outside noise. We are on the right track, and we are building toward victory with transparency, accountability, and momentum. I thank each of you for your unwavering dedication. Together, we are shaping a stronger, more competitive, and more united Delaware Republican Party.
While we have faced challenges due to limited funding, our comprehensive strategic plan for 2026 positions us to make significant progress and strengthen our long-term sustainability. With your help, we will be able to counteract past barriers preventing us from ensuring Delaware is not subjected to one party rule.
