Throughout this session, I remained focused on supporting Delaware families, expanding opportunities for students, improving accessibility, and addressing the rising costs facing households across our state.
I am happy to report SB 53, which codifies Delaware’s Farm to Community Program, passed both chambers and is on its way to the governor for his signature.
I also sponsored HB 350, which also passed both chambers and is awaiting the Governor's signature. This legislation directs the Department of Education to study opportunities for homeschool students to participate in public school extracurricular activities and explore the potential creation of a pilot program. The measure is an important step toward expanding opportunities for students and families across Delaware.
In addition, I offered legislators two paths to choose from by introducing SB 64 and SB 65. SB 65 would have removed Delaware from the Regional Greehouse Gas Initiation. SB 64 would have directed future revenue growth from Delaware's participation in the RGGI toward electric bill rebates for ratepayers, helping provide relief to Delaware families and businesses facing rising energy costs. Either bill would have provided meaningful relief to Delaware ratepayers, but neither were advanced out of committee.
As the 153rd General Assembly now comes to a close, I remain committed to advocating for policies that expand opportunity, improve access to services, and help make Delaware a more affordable place to live and work.
I look forward to continuing to work on your behalf and advocating for the priorities that matter most to our district.
