Session Wrapup: State Sen. Dave Wilson

July 9, 2026

This legislative session, I was pleased to see several measures advance through the legislative process that protect first responders and streamline agricultural programs.

SS 1 for SB 212 passed the Senate, but Democrats refused to consider the bill in the House of Representatives. SB 212 was the first leg of a constitutional amendment that would has established the right to hunt, fish, and trap in Delaware while preserving responsible wildlife management practices based on science and conservation. I will reintroduce the legislation when the 154th General Assembly convenes in January.

SB 232 passed both chambers and awaits the Governor's signature. This bill increases penalties for individuals who intentionally damage emergency response vehicles, helping ensure first responders have the equipment they need when emergencies arise.

Additionally, HB 371 passed both chambers and awaits the Governor's signature. The bill removes the requirement for counties to establish Farmland Preservation Advisory Boards while maintaining Delaware's commitment to preserving agricultural lands.

I remain committed to protecting Delaware's outdoor traditions, supporting our agricultural community, and standing with the first responders who serve our state every day.
