Ahead of the opening of the new North Millsboro Bypass to vehicle traffic, the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) is hosting a charity 5K Run/Walk at 8 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025.
Online registration is now open and available here.
All proceeds from the race will benefit the B+ Foundation, which supports children with cancer and their families, as well as funding research to find cures for childhood cancers.
Bicyclists will also be able to ride on the new road after the 5K event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Attendees will enter the bypass from the new exit ramp from SR 30/Gravel Hill Road, located half a mile north of the SR 30/Gravel Hill Road and SR 24/John J. Williams Highway intersection. Cars will be parked along the new bypass, with the race starting at the new Hollyville Road and SR 24 bypass intersection to the bridge over Fox Run Road and back.
The North Millsboro Bypass is expected to open to traffic in late September. The project, which began in March 2023, includes a two-lane, 2.8-mile connector road between US 113 and SR 24, north of Millsboro, as well as a separated multi-use trail.
The new alignment begins at US 113 and extends eastward, spanning Fox Run Road, the Norfolk Southern Railroad, Millsboro Pond, and Gravel Hill Road, connecting to SR 24 west of Mountaire Farms.
