Dear Fellow Delaware Republicans,
In these final days of 2025, our state mourns the profound loss of Delaware State Police Corporal Grade One Matthew T. "Ty" Snook—a devoted husband, father, and hero whose selfless sacrifice embodies the highest ideals of service.
Corporal Snook's story powerfully reflects the unbreakable bond between the core values of the Delaware Republican Party and those of our courageous Delaware State Police and law enforcement officers statewide. We stand resolutely for humanity — upholding the dignity of every life and supporting those who defend it; service to our community — celebrating those who place duty above personal safety; safe communities — fighting relentlessly for the security that lets families live without fear; and honor to our country—revering the patriotism and sacrifice that define our nation's bravest.
To pay tribute to Corporal Snook, let us remember the tragic details. On December 23, 2025, while working an overtime shift at the reception desk of the Karen L. Johnson Division of Motor Vehicles facility near Wilmington, the 34-year-old Hockessin resident and 10-year veteran was ambushed from behind and fatally shot by 44-year-old Rahman Rose of Wilmington. Even mortally wounded, Corporal Snook heroically pushed a civilian DMV employee to safety, shielding them from further harm in his final act of bravery. The suspect, who permitted customers to exit before targeting officers, was neutralized by responding law enforcement.
The depravity of this targeted attack has resonated nationwide, drawing heartfelt coverage from conservative voices that honor law enforcement's daily risks and heroism. Fox News spotlighted Corporal Snook's "final act of heroism" in saving a civilian while sacrificing himself, and featured Tunnel to Towers Foundation CEO Frank Siller announcing the payoff of the family's mortgage as a tribute to fallen first responders. Police1.com and Officer.com emphasized his dependable character and the community's outpouring of support through fundraisers. This tragedy has also inspired remarkable acts of solidarity, including a generous pledge from Tunnel to Towers Foundation Chairman and CEO Frank Siller to fully pay off the Snook family's home mortgage by New Year's Day.
In contrast, Delaware Democrats' responses have been confined to standard statements of condolence and "thoughts and prayers," falling short of the bold, unwavering commitment that matches the selfless values of our State Police. This measured approach aligns with a broader pattern of prioritizing reforms that critics argue undermine officer support, including past legislative pushes to revamp the Law Enforcement Officers' Bill of Rights, increase transparency in ways that expose officers to greater scrutiny, and advance "reimagining public safety" initiatives echoing national calls to redirect resources.
When Delaware Republicans gain more seats in the critical 2026 midterms, we will deliver decisive action grounded in our shared values:
Fully fund and equip our law enforcement: Providing unmatched resources, training, and technology so officers can protect us effectively and return home safely.
Toughen penalties for attacks on officers: Pushing mandatory enhanced sentences and stronger protections to deter violence against those who serve on the front lines.
Foster deeper community partnerships: Expanding programs that build trust, respect, and collaboration for truly safe neighborhoods.
Honor our fallen and their families: Establishing robust state support, including financial assistance, memorials, and lifelong resources for those who give everything.
Delaware's small size is our greatest asset — we can rally quickly, connect personally, and mobilize a mighty conservative coalition to capture key seats in 2026, shatter one-party Democratic control, and exceed all projections of their midterm dominance.
In Corporal Snook's memory, let us transform sorrow into strength. His life reminds us that true heroes walk among us, putting others first without hesitation. As we honor Ty — a loving family man, respected trooper, and American patriot — let us rise with renewed resolve: to back the blue unapologetically, to fight for the safe communities our families deserve, and to build a brighter, freer Delaware for generations to come. Together, we will not just endure this loss—we will emerge stronger, united, and victorious.
Please stand with us. Volunteer, donate to our movement, and pledge your vote for Republican candidates in 2026. The thin blue line holds because patriots like you stand behind it.
