Delaware Democrats Refuse to Show Up. Delaware Elections Pay the Price.

July 24, 2026

Gene Truono, Chairman, Delaware Republican Party

In the middle of an election year, Delaware’s State Board of Elections has yet to hold a single regular meeting. Delaware Republican Party Vice Chairman Daniel Willis says the absences are no accident and that Delawareans must treat the 2026 midterms as the national election they truly are.

“Democrats on the board simply don’t show up,” Willis said. “They know that without a quorum, no meeting can take place. Delawareans deserve to know why meetings continue to be canceled, how many seats remain vacant, and what critical election responsibilities have been delayed as a result.”

Willis is demanding answers on three key points:

  • Why meetings continue to be canceled

  • How many board seats remain vacant

  • What critical election responsibilities have been delayed

“For nearly three decades, Democrats have controlled every lever of power in Delaware. With that control comes an obligation to provide transparency and accountability. Instead, the public is left with unanswered questions about the administration of our elections.”

Those questions grow sharper against the national backdrop. Democrats have largely opposed the SAVE Act, which Republicans say would strengthen election integrity through proof-of-citizenship requirements.

“When you combine that opposition with the lack of transparency surrounding Delaware’s State Board of Elections, it naturally raises questions about whether election administration is receiving the attention and oversight Delawareans deserve.”

“This isn’t about partisan politics. It’s about public confidence. Delawareans deserve an election system that is transparent, accountable, and fully functioning. The people of this state should never be left wondering why the board responsible for overseeing our elections isn’t meeting.”

Willis called on Delawareans to get active now. The midterms are not a local sideshow. They are a national fight for election integrity, accountability, and the future of the country. Every day of inaction strengthens the status quo. Delaware Republicans must organize, volunteer, donate, and turn out like the stakes are national, because they are.

The Delaware Republican Party will continue pressing for answers and organizing to win.
