Friends,
This Thanksgiving offers a welcome moment for reflection and gratitude. Across Sussex County, families and neighbors will gather to share a meal, reconnect, and give thanks for the blessings that endure even in challenging times.
Our county’s strength has always come from the character of its people. Sussex County is a community defined by hard work, faith, and service. It is a place where neighbors look after one another, where tradition is honored, and where the spirit of generosity shows itself in countless quiet ways. These qualities remain the foundation upon which our future is built.
This holiday also highlights the everyday contributions of those who serve—our first responders, veterans, teachers, farmers, small-business owners, and volunteers. Their commitment reflects the very best of who we are as a county, and their efforts ensure that Sussex County remains strong, resilient, and united.
This year, our thoughts also turn to the members of the National Guard injured in a shooting just yesterday near the White House in Washington, D.C.. Many of them will not spend this Thanksgiving with their families as they standing watch and serving so others may be safe. Their sacrifice is a solemn reminder that the freedoms we cherish are protected by great personal risks, and their service deserves our deepest respect and gratitude.
Thanksgiving reminds us that leadership is not about one moment or one office. It is about stewardship. It is about carrying our values with humility, serving with integrity, and leaving our communities stronger for the next generation. As we look ahead to 2026, that same spirit will guide our efforts to support businesses, families, and dedicated public-servants committed to service and values.
From our families to yours, may this season bring peace, rest, and the warmth of togetherness. Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed Thanksgiving.
