Citizens for Delaware Schools exists to educate the public about the alarming state of Delaware’s public education system and the rise in behavior problems in the classroom. They also promote common sense, proven solutions that could help our kids.

My name is Lisa Hudson Briggs and I have been a lifetime resident of Sussex County. I grew up in Millsboro and we now have our home in Georgetown where we have lived for the past 29 years. My husband Lewis and I have been married for 29 years, having raised our four children in the IRSD. We are both graduates of Sussex Central. We’ve been very involved thru our kids schooling years in PTO mtgs/conferences and the Parent Advisory Council mtgs in high school along with many sports/school events. Our grandchildren, nieces and nephews currently attend in the school district. We still attend school events and sporting events to date too. I retired with the State of Delaware, Dept of Elections for Sussex County in Georgetown as office supervisor after 32+ years of public service back in 2016. Very active in the Georgetown Fire Company Auxiliary with our members and with the local community. Delaware Burn Camp – Camp Barnes Georgetown Historical Society Life Member Host family for the Distinguished Young Women program for 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024 I was appointed by the Board in March, 2024. No contest election for the remaining year of District 1. I attended the DSBA (Delaware School Boards Association) Boot Camp training class held in Dover. I’ve attended not only the monthly School Board mtgs, but with the Construction Committee (new SCHS school construction), Committee mtgs involving (Policy, Curriculum, Building & Grounds, Finance), Futures Committee and the DSBA (Delaware State Boards Association) Legislative Committee meetings in Dover – then sharing back the legislative bills with the Board members. Attending events (Honor Society Inductions, etc.) at the school as well when my schedule permits. District 1 encompasses the upper part of the Georgetown area. I have been endorsed by the Indian River Education Association (IREA).
