Tax Day Victory: Working Families Are Getting Bigger Refunds Under President Trump

April 13, 2026

Gene Truono, Chairman, Delaware Republican Party

Dear Delaware Republicans and Conservative Patriots,

Tax Day is just days away — and this year, hardworking Americans have real reason to celebrate.

Thanks to President Trump and Congressional Republicans passing the Working Families Tax Cuts (the One Big Beautiful Bill) last summer, average tax refunds are up nearly 11% this filing season — now averaging over $3,500 and climbing toward $3,700 for many families. This is not luck. It is the direct result of bold, pro-worker, pro-family Republican policies delivering real relief.

Here’s what the data shows this tax season:

  • Nearly half of all tax returns filed so far have claimed at least one of the new tax cuts.

  • Almost 20 million taxpayers have benefited from No Tax on Overtime, rewarding those who put in extra hours to provide for their families.

  • Millions of service workers across Delaware’s restaurants, hotels, and tourism industry have claimed No Tax on Tips, keeping more of their hard-earned gratuities.

  • Nearly 12 million small business owners are seeing an average tax reduction of nearly $7,000, strengthening local economies.

  • Parents of more than 4 million children have already claimed benefits through the new Trump Accounts.

These provisions are putting more money back in your pocket — increasing take-home pay by as much as $13,300 for some families — while ending taxpayer-funded benefits for at least 1.4 million illegal immigrants.

Every single Democrat in Congress voted against this historic legislation. While Republicans fought to lower taxes and reward hard work, Democrats stood in the way and continue to oppose relief at every turn.

President Trump said it best: “People are receiving larger refunds than they ever thought possible… That’s from the great Big Beautiful Bill. Our economy is strong and improving by the day.”

In Delaware, years of one-party Democrat rule have brought higher costs, heavier regulations, and families leaving our state. The success of these national tax cuts proves what we’ve always known: conservative policies work. They grow the economy, reward responsibility, and put power back in the hands of the people.

The 2026 Midterm Elections give us our best opportunity in years to break the cycle of Democrat dominance. Because Delaware is small, every single one of us can make a difference. By building a strong conservative coalition of working families, small business owners, parents, and patriots, we can flip seats, win majorities, and bring fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, and economic freedom home to the First State.

What You Can Do This Week:

  • File your taxes (if you haven’t already) and claim every new benefit available under the Working Families Tax Cuts.

  • Share your personal refund story with friends, neighbors, and coworkers — real results are the best messenger.

  • Get involved in our growing movement: volunteer, attend a local event, or support our candidates for 2026.

  • Stay connected with the Delaware Republican Party for updates and ways to help.

Tax Day should remind us that government works best when it takes less from the people who earn it. Let’s use this moment to energize our base and build the momentum we need to defy the projections and deliver victory in 2026.

Together, we will restore balance, prosperity, and conservative values to Delaware.
