The DSA is not just a fringe group. It's one of several socialist groups active in Delaware. And it has national momentum, despite openly identifying as socialist - something that would have been political suicide mere decades ago.
Socialism shares the same goal as communism - use government power to remove the actual or perceived oppression of different groups. Today, those groups are based on economic status, race, gender, or where a person identifies on the LGBTQAI+ spectrum.
Yes, hardship exists. But socialists try to fix the problem from a worldview that rejects the inherent and universal dignity of human beings, and assumes that the world's brokenness comes from systems, rather than from the sin inside each individual.
As a result, socialism exchanges one form of "oppression" for another - the tyranny of a totalitarian government.
In this episode of the Forged podcast, we explore the worldview implications of socialism and communism with worldview expert Joseph Backholm. This episode is meant to equip you as you navigate this election season.
"[Socialists have...] no difference with the communists in terms of what they hope the world will look like in the future. They say 'We're not going to own the means of production ... we're just going to micromanage the means of production.' " - Joseph Backholm
