Senator Hocker Issues Statement Regarding Continued Closure of Ocean View Post Office

OCEAN VIEW – On Thursday, March 12, 2026, Senate Republican Leader Gerald Hocker (R – Ocean View) issued the following statement regarding the continued closure of the Ocean View Post Office and the lack of a timeline for when repairs will begin.

“For months now, residents and businesses in the Ocean View area have been without access to their local post office while the facility remains closed for repairs. Unfortunately, despite repeated inquiries, the United States Postal Service has failed to provide a timeline for when repairs will begin or when the post office will reopen.

“While I appreciate the acknowledgment from USPS that this project remains active and that it is evaluating potential interim solutions, the continued lack of concrete answers is concerning. Frankly, the amount of time it has taken to reach even the early stages of a solution is disgraceful. Residents deserve far better communication and a much greater sense of urgency in resolving this matter.

“Representative Gray and I have remained in constant and consistent contact with USPS, and we are coordinating closely with our federal partners in an effort to move this process forward.

“Our constituents are looking for real progress, not continued uncertainty. I am once again urging USPS to provide a clear timeline for both interim service options and the eventual reopening of the Ocean View facility.

“My office stands ready to continue working collaboratively with USPS and federal officials, but the residents of Ocean View and the surrounding area deserve prompt action so they can regain access to the postal services they rely on every day.”
