Georgetown Police announced the return to The Circle this week of two monuments honoring two fallen law enforcement members.
The monuments honor Georgetown Police Chief Harvey Gregg and Georgetown Police Patrolman Chad Spicer.
According to Georgetown Police, "Their return marks the conclusion of a long-awaited and carefully undertaken process following motor vehicle crashes that struck and damaged the monuments. Since those incidents, significant care and consideration have gone into ensuring the monuments could be properly restored and returned in a manner that honors the officers they represent while helping protect these memorials from future harm."
Georgetown Police further stated, "For the men and women who wear the Georgetown Police Department uniform today, these monuments are more than memorials. They are enduring reminders of those who served before them, the sacrifices that come with wearing the badge, and the responsibility each officer carries when putting on the uniform. They remind us to wear the uniform with honor, serve with courage, and never forget the sacrifices of Chief Harvey Gregg and Patrolman Chad Spicer."
Rep. Jones Giltner and Senator Brian Pettyjohn secured state funding for the restoration of the monuments.
