From Gene Truono's Desk: Every Small Action Creates a Ripple. Help Us Defy the Midterm Projections.

Fellow Delaware Republicans,

Two hundred and fifty years ago, our Founders declared independence because they refused to live under distant, unaccountable power. They knew tyranny doesn’t always arrive with armies. Sometimes it arrives through legislation that slowly strips people of control over their own communities.

That is exactly what is happening in Delaware right now.

One-party Democratic rule has turned the General Assembly into a machine that overrides local voters, raises taxes without consent, and treats constitutional rights as privileges the state can ration. Look at the record:

• When Sussex County said no to a controversial substation, Democrats passed SB 159 and forced it through anyway. Local government became optional.

• With SB 322, school districts can now raise your property taxes year after year without asking for your vote.

• The so-called Housing for Every Delawarean Act orders counties to accept higher-density projects and limits their ability to protect neighborhoods.

• After a veto override, SB 75 blocks counties from setting stronger limits on where marijuana stores can open, including near schools and churches.

• And the permit-to-purchase handgun law forces law-abiding citizens to beg the government for permission before they can exercise a right the Constitution already guarantees.

This is not “good government.” It is the steady centralization of power. Decisions that used to belong to counties, towns, and taxpayers now belong to Dover.

Republicans have a different vision. We believe the people closest to the issues should make the decisions. We believe tax increases require voter approval. We believe the Second Amendment is a right, not a license. And we believe Delaware works best when power stays close to home.

On the 250th anniversary of our independence, the choice is clear: restore balance or accept permanent one-party control.

These are critical times. The long-standing trend of Republicans losing midterms when we hold the presidency cannot be allowed to continue this year. Projections and conventional wisdom already assume Delaware is locked in. Those projections only become reality if we stay on the sidelines.

The only way we defy them, and the only way we build lasting Republican success in Delaware, is if people act. Get active. Donate. Volunteer. Get two people you know to register to vote. Become a Delaware Ambassador and help raise the critical funds necessary not only to compete and win this midterm cycle, but to create the infrastructure for long-term conservative victories in our state.

Every small action creates a ripple effect. One conversation leads to another. One new registered voter inspires two more. One donation funds outreach that reaches dozens. One Ambassador multiplies energy across their community. What starts with you grows far beyond what any single person can see.

Be vocal about your conservative beliefs. Treat this midterm election like a national election, because the stakes demand it. We cannot do this without your support. Our success only happens when people step up.

Now is the time to act.

The Founders escaped tyranny. Let’s not invite it back, and let’s not let inaction write Delaware’s future for us.
