Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) has begun a statewide review of drinking water and wastewater systems in manufactured home communities. Many of these communities rely on older or undocumented systems, and the goal is to identify where upgrades or assistance may be needed.
With support from federal and state funding, DNREC has identified more than 170 communities for review. Field teams from DNREC’s contractor, Verdantas, began visiting selected sites in March. During these visits, they will document system types, ages, and conditions to better understand potential risks or future needs.
DNREC emphasizes that the project is focused on gathering information and helping communities connect with available resources. Enforcement will only come into play if clear public health concerns are found.
