Delaware's Socialist Nightmare is HERE

Note: I apologize for the length of this letter. I ask every Delawarean who receives it to read it carefully, all the way to the end. What follows is too important to skim.

Fellow Delawareans,

For more than a generation, Democrats have locked their grip on our state government.

They have used that power not to lift us up, but to slowly strangle the very things that made Delaware worth living in: opportunity, safety, freedom, and hope. If this one-party rule continues, the Delaware we love will not simply decline. It will be broken. What remains will be a hollowed-out shell of the First State, a place where hard work is punished, families are crushed, and the American dream dies a quiet, bureaucratic death.

Look at what the Democrats are building for us.

Taxes and spending will rise until the middle class is driven into the ground. Families already stretched thin by high income, property, and sales taxes will face new “fair share” surcharges, expanded gross receipts taxes, and endless fees designed to extract every last dollar. Young couples who want nothing more than a home of their own will be priced out forever. Seniors who spent a lifetime building this state will be forced to sell the houses they raised their children in, simply to survive. Small businesses that once employed neighbors and sponsored little league teams will close their doors or flee across the border. The people who actually create the wealth that funds our schools and roads will leave. Those left behind will be told to be grateful for more government programs.

Businesses will abandon us. Delaware’s hard-earned reputation as a place where enterprise could thrive will be destroyed under heavier regulation, unpredictable tax schemes, and open hostility to employers. Major companies in finance, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing will quietly move jobs and capital out of state. The corporate franchise tax base that once supported our public services will wither. Local restaurants, contractors, and shops that depended on those paychecks will struggle and fail. In Sussex County, farm families who have worked this land for generations will watch their children leave because the costs and the culture no longer make staying possible. The proud, independent spirit that built the First State will be replaced by compliance, fear, and dependency.

Our schools will keep failing our children. Decades of one-party control have already produced classrooms that spend more while students learn less, especially in our most vulnerable communities. The socialist answer never changes: more money, more central control, more administrators, and less power for parents. If this continues, achievement gaps will widen into permanent chasms. Chronic absenteeism will become the norm. Working-class children will be trapped in systems that prepare them for nothing while the political class quietly buys their own kids a better future. The promise of equal opportunity will turn into a cruel lie told to the next generation.

Crime and disorder will poison our neighborhoods. Soft-on-crime policies, endless second chances for repeat offenders, and a refusal to fully back law enforcement have already stolen safety from too many streets, especially in Wilmington. Continued Democratic rule means more open-air drug markets, more property crime that goes unpunished, and more families who no longer feel safe letting their children play outside after dark. Good officers will leave the profession in despair. Residents who can afford to escape will do so. Those who cannot will live every day with the fear and frustration of a justice system that seems to care more about the criminal than the victim.

Energy and housing costs will keep climbing. Aggressive climate mandates and hostility to reliable power will drive electricity and heating bills higher every year. Young families already locked out of homeownership will face even steeper barriers. Rents will rise as supply is choked by regulation and cost. The simple, honorable dream of building a life here, owning a home, raising children, starting a business, will slip further out of reach for ordinary Delawareans. What was once a place of possibility will become a place of permanent struggle.

Healthcare will grow more distant and more controlled. Wait times will lengthen. Choices will disappear. Providers will leave or limit their practices. Seniors, the working poor, and rural families will feel the pain first and longest. Socialist management of healthcare does not produce compassion. It produces rationing, bureaucracy, and quiet suffering.

Worst of all, the culture of self-reliance that made Delaware strong will be deliberately eroded. As government expands into every corner of life, personal responsibility and the community institutions that once held us together will weaken. Churches, civic groups, and local associations will be crowded out by state programs that demand gratitude instead of results. Dependency will be normalized. The independent, hardworking character that built this state will slowly be replaced by a politics of grievance, entitlement, and managed decline.

This is not distant speculation. It is the clear and present destination of the policies already in motion and the ideology that drives them. One-party Democratic rule does not soften with time. It hardens. It builds higher walls against success, deeper insulation for those in power, and a smaller and smaller circle of people who still believe the system works for them.

Delaware does not have to accept this future.

The 2026 elections are not just another political contest. They are a last clear chance to stop the slide. We can continue down the path of one-party socialist drift, watching our state slowly empty of hope, or we can fight for balance, accountability, and common-sense conservative governance. That means electing Republicans who will fight without apology for lower taxes, safer communities, schools that actually serve children and parents, reliable energy, and a government that answers to citizens instead of ruling them.

The nightmare is not inevitable. 

However, stopping it requires more than quiet frustration. It requires action, now. Register. Volunteer. Donate. Speak to your neighbors. Support candidates who refuse to accept managed decline as the price of political power. The Delaware Republican Party is organized, united, and ready to lead that fight.

The choice belongs to us. The stakes could not be higher. The future of our children and the soul of our state hang in the balance.
