A Message From Daniel Willis, Delaware GOP Vice Chair

March 31, 2026

Team Sussex,

A change in leadership has taken place within our state and county party, and it is important to share that update with all of you.

Following the elevation of our former State Vice Chair, Jim Weldin to serve in the Trump administration, the Delaware Republican Party moved to fill the vacancy. Last night, the members of the State Executive Committee elected me to serve as the new Vice Chair of the Delaware Republican Party. With this new responsibility at the state level, I have stepped down as Chair of the Sussex County Republican Party.

First and foremost, Sussex County is in strong hands.

Tom Molnar will now serve as Chair of the Sussex County Republican Party. Tom has been deeply involved in the party for many years and has faithfully served as Vice Chair under two separate county administrations. Over the past year, Tom has worked closely alongside me in building the progress and momentum Sussex County has experienced. In many ways, he has been the Robin to my Batman, an indispensable partner helping drive the strategy, the work, and the accomplishments that have strengthened our organization. His steady leadership and commitment to the party give me full confidence that Sussex County will continue moving forward with strength and purpose.

Just as importantly, the Representative District Chairs remain the backbone of this organization. The success of the county party is built from the ground up by the men and women doing the work at the local level in every community across Sussex County. There is an old saying in the Army that “the Army goes marching along,” and the same principle applies here. With the dedication of our RDCs and Tom providing steady leadership at the strategic level, the county party will continue to move forward with focus and discipline.

While this transition brings a change in role, it does not change the mission or my commitment to Sussex County. I will continue to remain closely involved with the county organization and look forward to remaining a familiar face at meetings, events, and activities throughout the county. If anything, this new statewide role creates even more opportunity to strengthen the connection between Sussex County and the broader efforts of the Delaware Republican Party.

The mission remains the same. The focus remains the same. Only the scope of the work has changed.

This new responsibility is accepted with humility, respect for the work that lies ahead, and a commitment to doing what is best for the party, the state of Delaware, and the country. I am excited about the opportunity to travel across Delaware, continue building relationships, and bring the same energy and momentum that has been built here in Sussex County to the rest of the state.

Thank you to everyone across Team Sussex for your continued support, dedication, and commitment to the cause. With strong leadership, engaged volunteers, and everyone moving in the same direction, I have every confidence that Sussex County will continue to lead the way.

I look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new friends as this next chapter begins.

Thank you again for everything you have done, everything you are doing, and everything you will continue to do.

 Daniel Willis

 Vice Chair

 Delaware Republican Party
