Elected officials helped mark the start of the 2026 Little League Senior Softball World Series last week.

The tournament, featuring players ages 13 to 16, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. For the last two decades, Sussex County has been one of six locations hosting tournament games.

Over the course of the week, American and international teams will be competing at the Lower Sussex Little League Complex, located at 34476 Pyle Center Road in Frankford.

The 10 teams playing include a host team from Sussex County and teams from five other states: Pennsylvania, Texas, Michigan, South Carolina, and Hawaii. International competitors are representing the Philippines, Brazil, Canada, and Czechia.

The tournament concludes Sunday.
