DOVER, DE – Members of the Delaware State Senate Republican Caucus have voted to retain their leadership team for the upcoming 154th General Assembly, re-electing Senator Gerald Hocker (R-Ocean View) as Republican Leader and Senator Brian Pettyjohn (R-Georgetown) as Republican Whip.

The leadership elections took place Friday, November 6, as caucus members prepare for the new legislative session beginning in January.

“I am grateful to my colleagues for their continued confidence in me, and I look forward to working alongside them as we tackle the issues facing our state,” said Senator Hocker. “Delaware families are concerned about the rising cost of living, the quality of our schools, and the safety of their communities. These are not partisan issues.

They are challenges that demand thoughtful, practical solutions. Our caucus will continue to be a strong voice for the people we represent, and we stand ready to work with anyone willing to move Delaware in the right direction.”

Senator Hocker will begin his fifth term as Republican Leader, while Senator Pettyjohn will serve his fourth consecutive term as Republican Whip.

“It is a privilege to once again have the support of my colleagues and the opportunity to serve in this leadership role,” said Senator Pettyjohn.

“We have a dedicated group of senators who bring different perspectives and experiences to the table, but who share a common commitment to serving Delawareans. As we enter the 154th General Assembly, our focus will be on holding government accountable, advocating for responsible policies, and ensuring the voices of our constituents are heard in Dover. I look forward to the work ahead.”

The 154th General Assembly is scheduled to convene on Tuesday, January 12, 2027.
