Council on Agriculture Set to Expand

Updated: Jun 12

June 11, 2026

Rep. Vanderwende is proud to be a co-sponsor of Senate Bill 211 with Senate Amendment 1, which was released from committee earlier this week.

This legislation expands the Governor’s Council on Agriculture by requiring that at least one seat be reserved for a livestock or poultry farmer and one for a farmer 40 years of age or younger. This ensures that the livestock and poultry sectors, along with the next generation of farmers, have a guaranteed voice in shaping state agriculture policy.

With the Council serving as a key advisory body to the Secretary of Agriculture and the Governor, this expansion represents a meaningful step toward more inclusive and forward-looking agricultural policy in Delaware.

The bill now awaits action on the House floor.
