2026 VOTER RESOURCES

This page will be updated throughout the 2026 Election cycle with additional voter information such as polling locations, etc.

The Delaware Department of Elections is the official source for DE voter and elections information.

BE REGISTERED TO  VOTE
DEADLINE TO VOTE IN PRIMARY = 8/22
DEADLINE TO VOTE IN GENERAL = 10/10

Use the iVOTE tool provided by the Delaware Department of Elections to:

Change Your Party

Request an Absentee Ballot

You must be registered:
  • To vote in Primary, General and any Special Elections

  • You do not need to be registered to vote for School Board Elections

BE AWARE!  If you registered through the "Automatic Voter Registration" (AVR) at the DMV or other state office your registered party may be listed as UNAFFILIATED.  Use iVote to change your party.

To register to Vote you must be:
  • ​A Citizen of the United States

  • A Resident of Delaware

  • Will be 18 years old on or before the date of the next General Election

  • See Department of Elections (DOE) Voter Registration for additional information

You may not register to Vote if you:
  • Have been adjudged mentally incompetent

  • Were convicted of a felony and have not fully discharged your sentence

  • See Department of Elections (DOE) Voter Registration for additional information

Register at DMV & other offices
  • At Division of Motor Vehicle offices when applying for, renewing or updating a Driver's License or State ID Card.

  • At certain other government offices, see list

Register by mail
  • Call Dept of Elections (302) 856-5367 and ask them to mail you an application.

  • MAY 29 - Last day to change Party before the Primary Election.  PAST 

  • JULY 14 - Deadline to File as Candidate  PAST

  • JULY 17 - Deadline to Withdraw  PAST

  • AUGUST 22 - Deadline to Register to Vote in Primary Election

  • SEPTEMBER 2 TO 13 - EARLY VOTING

       No early voting 9-6 or 9-7.​

  • SEPTEMBER 11 - Last day DOE mails absentee ballots

  • SEPTEMBER 15 - PRIMARY ELECTION DAY

NOVEMBER 3
  • OCTOBER 10 - Deadline to Register to Vote in the General Election

  • OCTOBER 22 TO NOVEMBER 1 - EARLY VOTING

  • OCTOBER 30 - Last day DOE mails absentee ballots

  • NOVEMBER 3 - GENERAL ELECTION DAY

  • September 2, 2026 – September 5, 2026,   7 AM – 7 PM.

  • Labor Day Holiday – No Early Voting Sept. 6th and 7th

  • September 8, 2026, 7 AM - 7 PM

  • September 9, 2026 – September 13, 2026, 11 AM - 7 PM

GENERAL ELECTION DAY/TIMES:

  • October 22, 2026 – October 24, 2026, 7 AM – 7 PM.

  • October 25, 2026 – NO EARLY VOTING

  • October 26, 2026 – October 27, 2026, 7 AM – 7 PM.

  • October 28, 2026 – November 1, 2026, 11 AM – 7 PM..

Confirmed Sussex County locations are listed below. The Department of Elections website states that the Sussex office is working to add more early voting locations. This list will be updated when more information is available.

Sussex County voters can vote at ANY of the Early Voting Locations in Sussex County.

PRIMARY ELECTION DAY/TIME:

  • September 15, 2026, 7 AM - 8 PM

GENERAL ELECTION DAY/TIME:

  • November 3, 2026, 7 AM - 8 PM

LOCATIONS:

Voters must vote ONLY in their Election District on 9/15 and 11/3 Election Days.

The quickest and most convenient way to request an absentee ballot is to visit the voter portal, iVote, and follow the instructions there to request a ballot.

Why it's important to know your districts - - -

You can only vote for local candidates running in your district.​

On election day, you don’t want to be in the voting booth only to realize the local candidate you want to vote for isn’t listed because the candidate is not in your district.

Where you vote is determined by your Election District within your House of Representatives District.

Each Representative District (RD) is divided into  many Election Districts (EDs).  Each Election District is assigned one or more polling places.​
